Comicus Status: ONLINE

There ya go, I put Comicus online at spiritus-dlbucci.rhcloud.com. Why does the URL say "spiritus"? Cause that's the other web app I'm working on that is not yet online, but hopefully will be soon. I figure I'll just make any app I make available as a "Spiritus" suite, cause "Spiritus" is Latin for "Sprite", and that's sort of my thing.

Hopefully, anyone that reads this (see: no one) will check it out and tell me what they think. Can you believe it? You can finally make comics in my style, like you one have always wanted to do.

Eventually, I will put a link up on this site, maybe. Gotta go now, but I'll talk more tomorrow. See you then!

I Made a Comic.

But I'm not putting it up until Wednesday. Working ahead is amazing! If only I did it every week.

Let's just say that Comicus is looking fine. In fact, it has pretty much every feature that Comic Maker had and then some. I think that I'll put it on the line and on the resume soon.

Oh, by the way, Catch-22 got dark. Like really dark. Like the first three quarters of that book compose the funniest thing that I have ever read, and then it just kills your childhood dog. It's really quite something else, in what is definitely a good way.

Oh, by the way, Neon Genesis Evangelion got weird. Like really weird. But first, it got good. Like really good. Not Cowboy Bebop good, but good enough that I binged on 14 episodes on a Thursday night to finish it off, which is not something that I do on a regular basis. I was on the fence for a little bit, but damn, it took hold of me, which was probably expected from the quintessential anime.

Don't know what I'll watch next, but it'll probably be Japanese, cause that's the kind of mood I'm in. See you next time!

New User Accounts can be Made Again!

Right, so I noticed today that user creation was not working. I have no idea how long it's been like that, but I'm hopeful that that has been the reason that I haven't gotten a new user in 4 and a half months, despite the temporary surge in traffic from Cole Slaw.

Everything should be fixed at this point, so now's the time to sign up, like you've always wanted to! Perks include not having the box ad, and that's pretty much it, but I swear that I'm adding more stuff. Next will be fixing the avatar editing (which I also just realized is broken), and then probably email updates or something.

Didn't make a comic ahead of time this week, but I have an idea and two long flights tomorrow, so I think it's coming. See you then!

RSS! I Choose You! (...to Code Instead of Sleeping)

Very tired am I. Uncaring about this post as well, but whatever. Back when I released "Cole Slaw", someone emailed me and asked me if my site had an RSS Feed that he could subscribe to to keep updated on my goings-on. I said no because it didn't.

Evidently, my past self is a future liar, because my site now does have a proper RSS Feed for the blog, which should announce updates and new Comics and Games and such. At least I think it does; I don't use RSS feeds and wouldn't know.

Anyone who would like to keep up to date on the stuff I do without having to go through the trouble of actually visiting my site can now do so by clicking the orange RSS icon next to the blog title. Enjoy!

Lastly, I regret to inform everyone that I have nothing else to say, so see ya later!

Site Updated! New Front Page Layout and Other Stuff!

Why do I use so many exclamation points in my post titles? My news is never that exciting. I should tone it down to a more reasonable level. Or maybe I could tone up the excitement in my news posts. Nah, the former is easier.

Anyway, I updated the front page yesterday instead of doing important stuff (I need to get my sh*t together). Comics now title the front page, which I like, seeing as they are the thing most frequently added to the site, even though I'm supposed to be a game developer or something. Whatever. I don't give a f*ck.

So yeah, that's all for today. See ya next time!

Comic #23: Hubris!

So this comic was actually created on Sunday, meaning that for once, I worked ahead! Holy crap! If only I could do that with my homework...

Ultimately, I think it's an okay comic. There's a joke in there, which is nice. And the characters are slightly more detailed than usual. But for me, the shading seems wrong, and the colors are a bit blended.

Point the charges for all these things at the fact that this is the first comic that I created with Comicus! (Or Comic Maker v2.0) It has a nice "split" feature, so I can make a rough panel, then split it for more detail. However, the shading isn't quite there yet, nor is (are?) the text bubbles (only the captions for now), nor the saving/loading, which made it quite nerve-wracking, honestly.

Eventually though, I will complete those features, and the comic's will be mediocre as ever! Woo! Exciting stuff on the horizon. Not game stuff. Nothing to talk about there...

Really looking forward to this week being over, so that I can look forward to next week being over too. See you then!

Comic #22: Mustache Time!

Gah. This comic. It's meh. But that's sort of the norm, so whatever.

Righto. What to talk about... doo doo doo...

Eh, man I am really not feeling it today. I do not want to write a blog post, but hey, here goes. I've got no progress to report on anything. College is now in full swing and I have no time for anything. Woo!

At the very least, I have a few ideas for my next game, though I don't know if any of them are thought out well enough to be completed, but we'll see.

There's also the matter of Comicus and Spiritus, which may be my current projects, when I get any free time. Anyway, this post is going nowhere, so I'm gonna end it. Peace out!

Comic #21: Overheard Overhead! Also, 40 Posts!

Bam! New Comic! I should be doing homework, but I made a new comic instead. You're welcome. This one actually took some time, so I may go back to my lazy one panellers next week, if there is a new comic next week. Also, I think I'm gonna switch to Wednesday as my release day, so watch out for that.

Unfortunately, this comic was still produced with my old, cruddy Comic Maker, as opposed to Comic Maker v2.0 (or Comicus, as it is now called), which will be much better when I get the time to make it fully functional. Hopefully at the same time, I'll finish up Spiritus, which is Comicus for game sprite sheets and something I want to publicly release at some point as well. Lots of projects, none are ever finished.

There's something undeniably therapeutic about taking a break to make a comic once a week, so I'm gonna try to keep doing that, and I hope you enjoy them. Peace out for now!

Comic #20: Poopin' on the Beach!

There. New Comic. Month streak is alive and at 7. Woo. That's the first reason I made this comic, and the second is that I love Professor Blastoff. It's an awesome Podcast that I've been listening to all summer, and this is my tribute.

Hm... so Cole Slaw has been out for a while. It was on the Front Page of Newgrounds for about a week, which was cool, and won a Daily Third, which was cool, and has about 26000 views, which is cool. It's also proven more popular than Ski Free or Die Hard! and has a higher review score as well, which makes me feel like I'm getting better at this whole "Game-Making" thing.

Although, that's not to say that I don't still think Ski Free is the better game, but I guess it's too each his own. Also, if there's a scientific discovery that I've made over the past 2 games, it's that easier games score higher. Both games were updated to be easier, causing their scores to shoot up. I guess challenge is undesirable. Or maybe it's the unfairness...

This post is going nowhere, so I guess I'm gonna sign off. Thanks for playing Cole Slaw!

Cole Slaw is Oh-You-Tee OUT!

Man, do my eyes deceive me? Have I actually published two games in the same year! Impossible! No, it's true! Cole Slaw, the sequel to the award-winning (singular) Feed the Children is out for the public to play! Woo!

Understand that this game has been a long time coming. I started working on it in May/June 2012. It was very close to finished at the end of Summer, but I had to go to school, and upon viewing it with fresh eyes, realized that it sort of stunk.

That caused me to redo a lot of the game this Summer. The basic premise is still the same, as is most of the gameplay, but the graphics are a little more zoomed in and nicer, the story is shorter, less obtrusive and better, and the game has just generally been streamlined. It's not about the length, it's about the girth.

And despite my initially despising this game upon my return, I think it is pretty fun and addictive. I still think Ski Free or Die Hard! is still my best game to date, but a lot of nutjobs disagree. Maybe some will even think that Cole Slaw is better.

Now on to other news that no one cares about. The site has seen a minor update. Woo. Look, search engines need text to make your stuff show up high in search results, and my site has very little text, which is a problem. So the game buttons now have the game title below them, which I think is cool, and should help with this issue.

There's also a new slogan for this site. What do you think? Anyway, I now owe Carnegie Mellon 4 extra hours of work, in place of the time I spent today, finishing this up, so I should get back to that. Newcomers, explore the site, leave some feedback and enjoy the game!
